New Scratch Modification

I picked the Scratch Project Spanish Words and I changed the project by changing the color on the slides and I tried adding sound to the slides but it wouldn't take to what I wanted it to do.I like this one because of how it teaches you the different words in spanish and gives you a picture of what the word represents. I think i would be better if it was made into a game and made the students think a little more and have to really think which one it is.

if that doesnt work then:

I changed the color on the project but I don't know if it changed the color or not.

Reflection on Blogging

I thought the blogging activities on here were great. I could really see how well the fifth graders could interact with us and express themselves freely. They could be creative and be fun. It was a great activity and I enjoyed it. It surprised me on how well they could communicate and use the sites. I have no concerns and they should keep using it and it should be used in a lot of classes. It helps kids to see that older kids can interact and be helpful to them. When I am able to teach I will definitly use this in my classes and let them be expressive.

Scratch Modification

I chose to change and work on the scratch posting called Spanish Words. I like how the project is set up and it displays the words and pictures for each object but I think you should be able to match the word with the image or spell the word in the box or be able to hear the word being said and you can be able to repeat it and gain some spanish language. I am going to change the project by making you able to type the word in and see if you get it right and have something happen when you do or if you don't it gives you the correct word or spelling.

Jenkins Video

1. Convergence Culture is where the old media and new media collide together.

2. That you can use the new technology such as youtube and google to be able to have a successful class and lesson for your students to learn. They want to try and use these ways to better our education by making it easier by using these sites for gaining knowledge.

3. They are only allowing students to use the library computers or labs for certain times of the day. I do not agree with these ideas because kids are technology based now a days and can learn better by using the internet and finding materials. It shows that most students do better when they can use images and media for presentations and projects because they can express themselves. I alos believe that it is easier to learn material by having to search for it and read in order to share what they found.

Website Validation

http://www.stormfront.org/forum/

I went through the checklist as I looked over this site, to see whether or not it met the criteria. I started with each objective that they spoke of and looked over there material. The site was good with using the checklist I went over it with. I really didn't find any problems with this site but the use of some things in each forum is a little strong. I used my abilities of asking myself does this area contain what the list is wanting, is the author getting is point acrossed and presenting the material better. I read the list given to me then as I went down through the different areas I checked off what the part had and didn't have done to it. I then made my evaluations and decided whether or not this site was good or bad and was the information useful and good for others to see.

Web 2.0 Education

I chose the Slideshare resource because you can use this site to post all of your students word and power point presentations and be able to see them a lot easier. They can also get feedback from peers and see what they need to improve on and what they did right. Slideshare is a great tool for using these applications and having students improve their skills. As a teacher I could use this by judging how well my students can work on their own and produce a presentation or paper and be creative about it. I will be able to grade a lot easier and help give them better feedback.

What Would Socrates Say?

I belive that Socrates would disapprove the use of webquests. He believed that you learn better by asking questions rather than having it there. He said in the third paragraph that we learn best by asking essential questions and testing tentative answers. I agree with that, there is no better way than experiencing it actually happening. As they said in the third paragraph again if we don;t do this then we might drown ourself in a sea of trivia than actually learn something. There is no better way than finding out by his method.

When i read the taxonomy webquest i believe that my webquest is a scientific task. In order to find out what is truly wrong with an athlete and see why they over heat you must test and see. As it says about the hypotheses and theories, it is the same with figuring out why heat does it to athletes in the best of shape.

Webquest posting

I have decided to work on a site that deals with heat stroke with athletes. To me it is a big deal and I would like to go through and change somethings that could make it more interesting and more appealing to students and whoever else reads it. It is called Too Hot To Handle.

Webquest Groupwork

During our webquest evaluations, as a group we decided that the landfill webquest and the john wilkes booth webquest were the most effeicient and productive towards student learning. The Landfill webquest creates creative high thinking and makes the students effectively think and produce solutions. With the john wilkes booth webquest, it creates a learning experience that shows the other sides to history and enables students to create history of their own. Overall, we believe these two webquests would be the most productive and effiecient at teaching the overall goals.

The Creative encounter webquest was the one we didn't like. It had to many concepts being taught at one time and to many options to stray from the webquest. We believe that there are easier ways to teach those concepts being taught than those that were actually being taught on the webquest. The Poetry of War webquest is one that might be foreign to those of students learning. It was a very subjective webquest and dark orientented. These two were the least productive of the four.

response to educational leadership blog

I believe that students should be able to do projects sometimes instead of writing because it will show how creative they are and you can see a different side of the student. It will make them more interested and think its fun instead of writing papers all the time. Also as it was said in the site the pressure to go public increases the students to do even better. Which is what a teacher should want from there student and it would be perfect to mix it up and see how well your students can do on their media projects.

Blog Assignment for 9/2/09

The internet site about the NETS teachers standards was talking about how each teacher should or how they can promote blogging on a student and they can succeed and develop tools for their life. The website uses every tool that a successful teacher or business person shall use. It teaches children to grow up and be responsible at a young age; As teachers we go out and find ways to develop ideas or activities for our students to grow. When i become a teacher and decide to use blogging, I intend to use it so the students can interact with one another in person or virtually. I would want to work on their leadership and professional skills. In order to succedd you need to be able to lead people and go about it in a professional aspect. As a physical educator you need those qualities for shaping young minds. I want to be able to have my students lead in any kind of situation when the time comes to it and know how to handle themselves and not freak out.
