What Would Socrates Say?

I belive that Socrates would disapprove the use of webquests. He believed that you learn better by asking questions rather than having it there. He said in the third paragraph that we learn best by asking essential questions and testing tentative answers. I agree with that, there is no better way than experiencing it actually happening. As they said in the third paragraph again if we don;t do this then we might drown ourself in a sea of trivia than actually learn something. There is no better way than finding out by his method.

When i read the taxonomy webquest i believe that my webquest is a scientific task. In order to find out what is truly wrong with an athlete and see why they over heat you must test and see. As it says about the hypotheses and theories, it is the same with figuring out why heat does it to athletes in the best of shape.

Webquest posting

I have decided to work on a site that deals with heat stroke with athletes. To me it is a big deal and I would like to go through and change somethings that could make it more interesting and more appealing to students and whoever else reads it. It is called Too Hot To Handle.

Webquest Groupwork

During our webquest evaluations, as a group we decided that the landfill webquest and the john wilkes booth webquest were the most effeicient and productive towards student learning. The Landfill webquest creates creative high thinking and makes the students effectively think and produce solutions. With the john wilkes booth webquest, it creates a learning experience that shows the other sides to history and enables students to create history of their own. Overall, we believe these two webquests would be the most productive and effiecient at teaching the overall goals.

The Creative encounter webquest was the one we didn't like. It had to many concepts being taught at one time and to many options to stray from the webquest. We believe that there are easier ways to teach those concepts being taught than those that were actually being taught on the webquest. The Poetry of War webquest is one that might be foreign to those of students learning. It was a very subjective webquest and dark orientented. These two were the least productive of the four.

response to educational leadership blog

I believe that students should be able to do projects sometimes instead of writing because it will show how creative they are and you can see a different side of the student. It will make them more interested and think its fun instead of writing papers all the time. Also as it was said in the site the pressure to go public increases the students to do even better. Which is what a teacher should want from there student and it would be perfect to mix it up and see how well your students can do on their media projects.

Blog Assignment for 9/2/09

The internet site about the NETS teachers standards was talking about how each teacher should or how they can promote blogging on a student and they can succeed and develop tools for their life. The website uses every tool that a successful teacher or business person shall use. It teaches children to grow up and be responsible at a young age; As teachers we go out and find ways to develop ideas or activities for our students to grow. When i become a teacher and decide to use blogging, I intend to use it so the students can interact with one another in person or virtually. I would want to work on their leadership and professional skills. In order to succedd you need to be able to lead people and go about it in a professional aspect. As a physical educator you need those qualities for shaping young minds. I want to be able to have my students lead in any kind of situation when the time comes to it and know how to handle themselves and not freak out.
